Amazing class. Much valuable information, well reinforced. Examples were excellent and illustrative of the concepts being presented.
I found this course to be very helpful. I learned a lot about place and setting and how to integrate it into my writing. I also liked that much of the focus was on creative writing, not just assignments for the sake of an assignment.
The instructor was very encouraging to all students and made suggestions to us on how to improve our writing skills. The class material was easy to follow and informative. The assignments were fun to do, and they made you utilize what you learned in the lessons. I enjoyed this class and feel like I learned a lot from it.
This course increased my self-confidence and improved the results of my writing.
This course provided me with excellent information that I will be able to use now and far into the future. The instruction materials contained enough examples to help spur my thoughts into writings.
The assignments were interesting and the feedback was timely and insightful. Great class and a supportive, responsive instructor.
This course has been very helpful to me, an aspiring writer who needed a jump start. I learned so much from this class. Now I have more confidence and feel ready to start my own writing projects. Thanks for all of your wonderful comments and encouraging words.
I really enjoyed this course. I feel much more confident about my ability to be descriptive. Anyone interested in learning how to create pictures with words should take this class.
In the assignment for Lesson 4, I wrote about my interview with "Ellen", her "castle" house and her foyer mannequin "Mean Mary Jean". Ellen's daughter called me today to let me know her mother passed away suddenly this morning. I did not know the family very well, and was surprised that she chose me to personally call with the news, until she mentioned how much her mother loved the story I wrote, and then asked my permission to read it at Ellen's funeral on Thursday. I am so honored to think I was able to give this gift to her children of a story they feel captures their mother's heart and spirit enough that they want to share it with her friends as a final memory. Thank you Eva for giving me the venue and encouragement to accomplish this project! Even though the news brought sadness at the loss of my beautiful new friend, my heart is bursting with pride with the fact that I am a Writer!
A few weeks ago I submitted an 1800-word local newspaper article (one of the assignments) about kitchen gardening in "black gumbo" soil--the nemesis of everyone who moves to this area, and the editor just emailed me it's going into print in the July issue! He requested photos of my garden...holy cow, I never thought to take pictures. Gotta hustle out the camera. Thanks for all the "nudging!" I never imagined I'd be published after just six weeks in your class.
