GIF Files for Web Usage
In general, GIF files are the most common file format for displaying images on the Web. The resolution for Web usage is 72 dpi (low). These GIF files have a transparent background.

These files can't be scaled to a larger size than they appear on the screen here or they will pixilate (Figure 1). Also, these 72 dpi files are not adequate for use in print collateral.

ed2go and Print Logos

EPS and TIF Files for Print
These EPS files are in vector format, which means they were created using true lines instead of pixels. This file type does not have a resolution associated with it. So, these logo files can be scaled up or down to any size and still retain smoothness. This is the file format to use for print or to develop JPG and GIF files for Web use.

TIF files are a pixel-based format like GIF files. The TIF files on this page have a resolution of 300dpi (high), which makes them adequate for print use. However, these should not be scaled to a larger size as they will pixelate. These files are set up for 4-color (CMYK) and/or black and white printing.
