This program offers valuable training in medical office management, as you learn about patient and insurance billing, filing, payroll and human resources tasks, collections, and inventory management. Your training includes step-by-step tutorials that teach you how to work with Medical Office Simulation Software (MOSS ©).
You will also gain hands-on, practical experience in medical billing and coding for insurance claims. As you work with the main coding manuals in the field, the ICD-9-CM, the CPT, and the HCPCS, you will learn how to code disorders, services, and procedures for all systems of the body.
Finally, you will master the legal, ethical, and regulatory concepts that are central to this field, including HIPAA compliance requirements, industry-specific rules for filing insurance, and performing diagnostic and procedural coding.
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from the school through which you enrolled. In addition, you will receive study guide materials and registration fees for the CBCS (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist) and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certifications exams offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
When you register you receive an initial six months to complete this program. Should you need more time beyond the six months, an extension of six months is available at no additional cost.
