Kankakee Community College is a two-year, fully accredited institution of higher education located in Kankakee, Illinois, about 60 miles south of downtown Chicago. Kankakee Community College is committed to one mission: Enhancing quality of life through learning. The College was organized in October 1966 and offered its first classes in September 1968. Since that date, it has served as an educational, vocational, and recreational center for a population in excess of 130,000. In its College Credit Division, KCC awards associate degrees in more than 40 areas of study and certificates of completion in 17 areas. Students attend KCC both to prepare to transfer to a four-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree and to prepare to enter the job market directly from KCC. Kankakee Community College also offers non-degree programs to meet a variety of community needs, including workforce development and remedial development, through the Office of Corporate and Continuing Education and the Division of Adult and Community Education.
