Western Carolina University is committed to providing educational opportunities to individuals throughout Western North Carolina. The Division of Distance and Continuing Education coordinates and manages the delivery of educational programs through its partnerships with area community colleges, business, industry, public agencies, organizations and schools. The Division offers a wide variety of education and training opportunities from short courses to degree programs.
Many of these courses and programs are offered online over the World Wide Web, enhanced with educational technologies. Others are offered onsite or extended through the University Interactive Video Technology System. Our educational outreach initiatives provide place-bound learners increased access and flexibility so they may efficiently and effectively pursue their educational interests.
Our mission is to provide educational outreach throughout the region, provide professional development and enrichment programs, support personal and educational development and promote life-long learning.
