The Advanced CompTIA A+ Certification Prep course focuses on fun technology. You値l learn everything you need to know to select, install, and service video, sound, and portable computers. The course teaches networking, both wired and wireless, because every well-rounded tech needs to know it. You値l learn about security, security, security. Plus you値l learn my troubleshooting methodology, tried and true in countless computer crises. The Advanced course completes the three-course CompTIA A+ Certification Exam Prep cycle and prepares you for both the 2006 exams and for real life as a PC tech. Let痴 get to it!
This course includes a knowledgeable and caring instructor who will guide you through your lessons, facilitate discussions, and answer your questions. The instructor for this course will be Scott Jernigan.
With a Master of Arts degree in Medieval History, Scott Jernigan feels as much at home in the musty archives of London as he does in the warm glow of a computer monitor. Scott teaches A+ Certification and PC hardware classes around the country, including several stints at the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, Lucent Technologies in Baltimore, MD, and the United Nations in New York City. Scott has also edited numerous computer books, including the best-selling "All in One A+ Certification Exam Guide" and the "Network+ Certification Exam Guide" from McGraw-Hill. Practicing what he teaches, Scott is an A+ and Network+ Certified Technician.

Requirements:
Internet access, e-mail, the Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and the Adobe Flash and PDF plug-ins (two free and simple downloads you obtain at http://www.adobe.com/downloads by clicking Get Adobe Flash Player and Get Adobe Reader). Successful completion of the Basic CompTIA A+ Certification Prep and Intermediate CompTIA A+ Certification Prep courses. A Windows 9x PC that you can experiment on. You will probably want to remove/install various devices, such as video, sound, and modems. Because of the dangers of electro-static discharge (to the machine, not the student), however, we do not require you to tear apart your own primary computer. This is a class that trains you to be a technician - having a machine to play with greatly helps your learning. You can pick up an old PC from second-hand stores, garage sales, or your Aunt Edna's attic.
Syllabus:
All courses run for six weeks, with a two-week grace period at the end. Two lessons are released each week for the six-week duration of the course. You do not have to be present when the lesson is released, but you must complete each lesson within two weeks of its release.
A new section of each course starts on the second or third Wednesday of each month. If enrolling in a series of two or more courses, please be sure to space the start date for each course at least two months apart.

"I now have taken all of the online courses for the A+. I am going to study a little further and hopefully get that certification soon! These three courses had a lot of good information. It got in depth with a lot of topics, which I found great. Good course overall!"
"I've taken all three A+ Certification courses and have enjoyed them all. This course was exactly what I needed, because I live and work in two different states and am unable to attend a classroom based course, due to my work schedule. I feel confident in my ability to pass the A+ exams with just a little more studying and review. And because of this I'll be back for the Network+ certification course."
