Start Your Own Business

This course will help you start a successful business. To accomplish this, the course will take you through the processes of generating ideas, proving feasibility, developing a bankable business plan, and approaching the start-up and operation of your business. You will learn skills and build business knowledge in areas such as business law and marketing finance. You will also learn the elements involved in becoming a competent and successful business owner and entrepreneur.

Develop detailed knowledge of the industry you are interested in, while you develop comprehensive business strategies. Also build your business network, as you develop your plans and learn about essential business trends, such as the use of social media, globalization, and outsourcing. Learn how to present yourself and your business ideas confidently in order to gain the desired results and resources. When you register you receive six (6) months to complete this program.

Is there a great deal of reading?

We have designed each lesson so that it has about an hour of reading beyond the online lesson. We provide options for reading and other resources for help, if you need them.

Can I register for programs if I am an international student?

Yes, because ed2go programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school. Most schools offer telephone or online registration.

How long does it take to complete a program?

All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. Upon registering, you’re given six (6) months to complete this program.

Can I get financial assistance?

ed2go courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. Additionally, some students may qualify for financial assistance when they enroll, if they meet certain requirements.

Our programs are all open enrollment. You can register and start the program as soon as you are ready.

Do I need to know how to read or create financial spreadsheets?

No, you do not need to know how to create financial spreadsheets. We will teach you what you need to know and show you many ways that financial spreadsheets and projections can be produced regardless of you level of financial background.

Who will be my instructor?

Each student is paired with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.

Do I need to have a lot of money that I either invest or raise from others?

No, you do not need to start with a lot of money. We show how to get started with as little as possible and how to obtain financing from investors, banks, government programs, and other sources.

What if I already have a business?

If you already have a business, this course will help you to ensure that your business has the best plan and the best strategy. This course will also teach you about the implementation of a business plan such as marketing, hiring, and managing.

Am I guaranteed a job?

ed2go programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don’t provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don’t have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

What if I don't have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided?

The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don't worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee may be charged for an extension.
