This program will prepare you for CompTIA A+ certification. You can earn this certification after you pass two exams. The CompTIA A+ Certification Exam 220-901, covers the foundational hardware knowledge a PC support technician should know. The CompTIA A+ Certification Exam 220-902 covers the operating system, virtualization, mobile device management and hardware troubleshooting skills.

CompTIA A+ (220-901) – Units 1 and 2

Learn to understand and operate BIOS/UEFI tools, motherboard components, CPU and RAM types, PC expansion cards, and power supplies. You’ll also understand storage devices, display devices, peripheral devices, network architecture devices, and characteristics of TCP/IP.

CompTIA A+ (220-901) – Units 3 and 4

Master PC connection interfaces, network cables and connectors, Wi-Fi networking standards, internet connection types, and networking tools. In unit 4, you’ll learn about laptop components, displays, features, and mobile devices.

CompTIA A+ (220-901) – Units 5 and 6

Understand SOHO’s, printers, and how to maintain a printer. You’ll also cover troubleshooting best practices for RAMP, CPU, RAID, networks, mobile devices, and printers.

CompTIA A+ (220-902) – Units 1 and 2

Learn the fundamentals of Microsoft Operating Systems. Continue on to learn about Windows OS security, Microsoft command line tools, and Windows control panel utilities. In unit 2, you’ll learn about the basic features of mobile operating systems, how to secure mobile devices, and how to configure basic mobile device network connectivity and email.

CompTIA A+ (220-902) – Units 3 and 4

Understand client-side virtualizations, basic cloud concepts, Windows networking on a client/desktop, and SOHO wireless and wired networks. Additionally, you’ll learn about common security threats and vulnerabilities, security best practices, and how to safely destroy and dispose of data.

CompTIA A+ (220-902) — Units 5 and 6

Develop an understanding of safety procedures, how to handle prohibited content and activity, proper communication techniques, and how to explain privacy to clients. Lastly, in unit 6 you’ll cover troubleshooting best practices for PC operating systems, PC security issues, common mobile and OS security issues, and you’ll learn about troubleshooting theory.

Aaron brings over 10 years experience in technology and technology-related instructional design, teaching and tutoring. His experience includes instructional design and curriculum development for Loyola University Medical Center, DeVry University, as well as corporate training clients. To enroll in this program, you should have basic knowledge of computer hardware and operating systems—for example, how to power up and log on to a machine, how to use a mouse and keyboard, and basic Microsoft Windows navigation skills.

This program is for you if you're interested in pursuing a career in information technology, specifically related to PC technology. This program will prepare you obtain a CompTIA A+ Certification designation.

This program is compatible with the Windows 7 and later operating systems and all current Internet browsers.

This program can be taken on either a PC or Mac device. Mac users are encouraged to have access to a Windows environment on their device. You'll also need to have email capabilities.

Can I register for programs if I am an international student?

Yes, because ed2go programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school. Most schools offer telephone or online registration.

How long does it take to complete a program?

All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment. You can start and finish the program at your own pace. When you register for a program, you are given 6 months to complete the program.

What if I don't have enough time to complete my program within the time frame provided?

The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of hours for each program, so don't worry too much about not completing in time. If, after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee will be charged for an extension.

Do I have to buy additional materials?

All materials you need for the program are included. The cost of materials is covered by your tuition. ed2go ships all materials via UPS ground service upon registration. However, please note that we do not provide computer hardware as part of your course. We will assist you in seeking out free hardware components and trial editions of software applications to assist you in completing your applied activities.

Can I get financial assistance?

ed2go courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses.

What happens when I complete the program?

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion. In addition, you will receive exam vouchers for the CompTIA 220-901 and 220-902 exams after successful completion of the program and financial obligation.

Am I guaranteed a job?

ed2go programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don't provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.

Who will be my instructor?

Each student is paired up with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.

 

What software or hardware do I need in order to take online programs and what are the system requirements?

In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don't have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.

How do I do the applied labs if I don't have equipment?

The majority of labs can be done using the online lab system. A lab scheduling link is included.
