Week 1

In this first lesson, you will explore the ways that a website can help you organize information, instruct your students, and interact with others.  You will create a plan for your own classroom website and learn how to keep your students safe when surfing the Internet.  Then you will put your plan into action.  You will learn about text editors and HTML and by the end of this lesson, you will have a title, description, heading, and text for your site.

Week 2

In this lesson, you will bring your site to life with formatting.  You will give your website visual appeal as you add color to the text and the background.  You will begin to format and arrange text to give your site a unique and professional look.  Then you will discover how and why you should add graphics to your site.

Week 3

Discover how to select and format a background image and add animated graphics to your home page.  You will top it all off with a custom-designed banner.  Then you will learn about the different kinds of links and how to create them.  You will discover how to place them to make it easy for visitors to navigate your site.

Week 4

This lesson will show you how to create a table, format it, add color and graphics to it, and incorporate it as an important part of your classroom website.  Then you will focus on WebQuests, which are unique Internet learning adventures.  You will discover how WebQuests will enrich and educate your students. You will use your HTML knowledge to begin creating it.

Week 5

In this lesson, you will complete your WebQuest and link it to your Web site.  You will explore the best ways to use this learning experience in the classroom.   Then you will develop your own blog and teach your students about blogging and how to use blogs effectively.

Week 6

In this final lesson, you will find a host and a domain name for your site.  You will explore options to suit all budgets---including no budget.  You will learn about File Transfer Protocol so that you can move your Web site files from one computer to another one.  Then you will discover great ways to help your students create their own Web sites and post their projects online.  You will discover how Web authoring software programs and your Web host’s site-building tools can make creating a site quick and easy.
