Week 1

In your first lesson, you will go over all the things you need to know about the general makeup of both the ACT and SAT.  You’ll learn how to relax when you start feeling panicky, how to eliminate the wrong answers, how to guess when you aren’t sure of the right answer, and how much time to spend on each question. Then you will learn how to read passages and focus on what’s important and ignore what isn’t. You’ll find out how to eliminate answers that often hook test takers and spot the distracters the test-makers use to make wrong answers seem right.

Week 2

This lesson will steer you through ACT reading comprehension passages from past ACT tests and give you a step-by-step approach for getting the most information from the passages in the least amount of time. Then you’ll learn the format of the SAT reading passages as well as the most efficient way to read through them. You will also get an overview of the remaining Information & Ideas reading question types on the new SAT.

Week 3

In this lesson, you will learn how to approach Rhetoric questions and answer questions relating to the author’s choice of words, overall text structure, point of view, purpose, and argument. You will also get instruction on how to identify and answer Synthesis questions on the SAT reading test. Then your will review grammar rules that are most commonly tested on the ACT and SAT. You will then focus on the kinds of errors the tests like to see if you know and discover how to spot them and correct them.

Week 4

This lesson will go over some detailed explanations on how to approach ACT English questions. You’ll find out what you need to pay attention to and what you can disregard when you’re examining each of the paragraphs for errors. Then you will get a detailed strategy for tackling two types of multiple-choice questions found on the SAT.  You will learn how to spot errors in the improving sentence questions just by noticing what types of words are underlined in the questions.

Week 5

Writing an essay is a newer skill tested on the ACT and SAT. In this lesson you will learn a specific plan for making the most of your time so you can successfully put your thoughts together in a cohesive and interesting essay. Then you will compose a sample essay and share it with your instructor and classmates for review. This will also give you an opportunity to read what other test-takers write.

Week 6

Go over the science questions on the ACT and learn how to excel on questions that test your verbal skills. You will learn how to accurately read graphs and charts and extract information without wasting too much time. Finally you will review all the tips and strategies you’ll need to know to do your best on the verbal questions on the ACT and SAT.  This review will make sure you understand the elements of each question type, review what you should focus on, and show you how to best spend your study time until test day.
