flip.gif (7579 bytes)I've got one of those black, imitation leather schedulers. It's about three years old and the leather is pretty worn. The metal binder prongs seemed to lose their strength about half way through the second refill pack I purchased. It's safe to say I'm ready for a new organizer.

As luck would have it, I recently came across 3Com's Palm Pilot site. Their Palm Pilot is an electronic organizer that fits in the palm of your hand. 3Com has numerous models of their palm pilot available. The newest edition to their family of e-organizers is the Palm Pilot VII Connected Organizer

The Palm Pilot VII (PPVII) comes equipped with a nicely sized liquid crystal display and a variety of organizational and scheduling features. It's completely customizable and a wealth of third party add ins and accessories are available, not that you'll need them. The PPVII comes with enough memory for you to save thousands of addresses, and up to five years of appointments. Its operating system requires so little power that batteries last for months at a time.

3Com makes sure that your data is safe on in the Palm Pilot VII. One simple click of a button and all of your information is backed up. A link is included with your Palm Pilot purchase that allows you to transfer data to your computer through Microsoft's Outlook. Other after-market links are available for transfers through other computer programs.

Boasting about the incredible speed of their operating system, 3Com says "The Palm Computing Platform is optimized for handheld computing. It won't keep you waiting the way other operating systems do. You'll see your data instantly rather than staring at an hourglass." 3Com has also made obtaining your data a simple task. There are no complicated steps, just one click and you're there.

Perhaps the greatest feature of the Palm Pilot VII is its wireless Internet access! That's right, just flip up the antenna and you're ready to tap into the best the Internet has to offer. You can check stock quotes, book a flight, get directions, or find out about current events from anywhere in the United States.

The PPVII also comes with a wireless Internet Messaging system specifically designed for the Palm Computing Platform. This iMessenger allows you to send and receive quick text messages virtually whenever and wherever you want.

The Palm Pilot VII comes with a $599 price tag, and is currently available in the New York-Metro area. It will soon be available in cities throughout the United States. If you're interested in finding out when the PPVII will be available in your area you can visit 3Com's Notification site. Fill out the form and they'll let you know when the Palm Pilot VII will be available to you.

The Palm Pilot VII sure is capable of a lot more than my old, leather organizer. But then again, I didn't spend quite as much on it as I would on the PPVII. Since the Palm Pilot VII is not yet available in my area, I guess I'll get another refill pack for my organizer. Maybe next year...
