About This Course

(20 contact hours) The concepts of alternative, holistic, and integrative medicine have their roots in healing traditions that have been around for thousands of years. Today, this philosophy is gaining attention as more practitioners recognize the benefits of combining traditional medicine with the nonphysical exploration of healing.

In this four-lesson certificate program, you'll gain insights into a unique, person-centered approach to health care. Designed for both health care professionals and consumers, the program explores key topics in integrative and holistic health care, including stress management and the beneficial effects of physical activity, nutrition, and healing environments. Each lesson examines the often centuries-old traditions that underpin these approaches and offers a variety of methods for empowering patients, including journaling, fitness programs, cognitive restructuring, and how to create an environment that fosters wellness.

As you master the philosophies and treatments of these four holistic approaches, you'll also develop a deeper appreciation of wellness. You'll learn how the relationship between provider and client can promote healing and how these various treatments empower individuals to support self-healing through natural techniques. Above all, this program will guide you as explore the importance of treating the whole individual and learn to harness the tremendous potential of an integrative health approach.
