Poynor Adult and Community Education Center is the oldest existing school building in Florence School District One. It was built in 1907 as Central Graded School. The Poynor Building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in April of 1983.
Since 1975, Poynor Adult and Community Education Center has become a landmark in the Florence community. The school is a gathering place for the community. People of all ages come together for civic or business meetings, concerts, workshops, political events, educational classes, leisure activities, etc. The staff is constantly striving to meet the needs of the community. We welcome suggestions and comments about our programs and this site.
