About San Mateo Adult & Community Education
The San Mateo Adult School has over 14,000 annual enrolments. The SMART Center (San Mateo Adult Resources Technology Center)is a modern, wired building, constructed with the goal of providing lifelong learning and access to technology for ALL adults in our community.
The San Mateo Adult School provides student-centered continuing education to a population diverse in age, economic status, education, language, and ethnicity by providing quality:diploma programs, basic skills development, English-as-a-second language acquisition, skill development/self-help for handicapped adults, short-term vocational training opportunities, education programs for older adults in care facilities, retirement/senior centers, education to assist individuals in living healthful and productive lives, parenting enrichment, personal enrichment with diverse self-supporting programs, continuing education to meet the needs of residents in the community.
We are a service of the San Mateo Union High School District to the communities of San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, and Foster City. We are committed to fulfilling the mandate of Adult Education in California by directing resources to serving those traditionally undeserved; especially those disadvantaged economically or academically. We believe that the search for knowledge, understanding, and personal growth is lifelong. Our responsibility is to provide continuing education for people of all ages and all backgrounds.
