Introduction to Microsoft Word 2016

One of the most basic skills needed in any job is writing reports and letters using Microsoft Word (now available through Office 365). In this course, you'll gain the foundational skills you need to make the most of this powerful program to create professional-looking letters, reports, and documents. You'll learn how to type, edit, and format text, as well as dozens of ways to modify the appearance and content of your documents. You'll explore Word's features, such as spell and grammar checker and the thesaurus, to put a professional polish on your writing. By the time you're done with the step-by-step lessons and hands-on activities in this course, you'll be ready to use Word confidently at home or on the job.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2016

Do you work with numbers? Then you need to master Microsoft Excel 2016 (now available through Office 365)—and this is the place to do it. In this comprehensive online course, you'll discover dozens of shortcuts and tricks for setting up fully formatted worksheets quickly and efficiently. You'll learn the secrets behind writing powerful formulas, using functions, sorting and analyzing data, designing custom charts and graphs, creating three-dimensional workbooks, building links, and creating macros and custom toolbar buttons. This informative course covers Quick Analysis, Flash Fill, and powerful charting capabilities available in Excel 2016. By the time you're done, you'll be using Excel like a professional.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2016

Take your PowerPoint presentations from ordinary to extraordinary! In these lessons, you'll learn how to use Microsoft PowerPoint 2016 (now available through Office 365) to create impressive slide presentations using a variety of slide and layout masters that make global changes to your presentation in a snap. You'll also see how to embellish your slides with color, text, pictures, shapes, WordArt, SmartArt, charts, animation, video, audio, and hyperlinks, and discover how to create a PowerPoint photo album with your digital pictures. In addition, you'll work with PowerPoint Online, the free online version of PowerPoint, and the new Tell Me and Smart Lookup features. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced user, this course will teach you how to turn simple slides into an exciting presentation that will grab and hold your audience's attention.

  • This course must be taken on a PC. Macs are not compatible.

Software Requirements:

  • PC: Windows 10 or later.
  • Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox are preferred. Microsoft Edge is also compatible.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2016 (desktop versions) Available to download with a subscription to Microsoft 365, or with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2016. (not included in enrollment)
  • Note: The "Starter Version" and "Web App" versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will not work with the full versions of the software taught in this course.

Wallace Wang

Wallace Wang is the author of over 40 computer books including "Microsoft Office 2016 For Dummies". In addition to writing computer books, he has also co-authored "Breaking Into Acting for Dummies" and ghost written several books about investing in real estate, day trading stocks, and becoming an entrepreneur. Some of his past jobs have included teaching computer science courses at the University of Zimbabwe, performing stand-up comedy, and appearing on a weekly radio show.

Chad Wambolt

Chad Wambolt is a graduate of Boise State University, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in accounting. He has spent his entire professional career in the finance field, working for both privately and publicly held companies with sales ranging from $500 million to $3 billion. Through the course of his career, Chad has become an expert user of Microsoft Excel. His knowledge of Excel's capabilities has helped organizations streamline processes and save countless hours of labor. Chad has taught Excel to students of varying skill levels since 1997.

Kathy Van Pelt

Kathy Van Pelt has been involved in education for many years, teaching and assisting students with microcomputer application courses. Kathy specializes in Microsoft Office applications, Google Drive and Google Applications, the Windows and Mac operating systems, and keyboarding. For the past 25 years, she has taught computer courses at a community college, teaching both in the classroom and online. Before that, she spent nine years teaching word processing and business classes at a private business college. She loves being in the ever-evolving educational field, and she's especially excited about the flexibility that online learning offers students.
