Mary is 86 years old and she’s still continuing her education! It all started with our Creating Web Pages course and she hit the ground running from there!
Here’s her story:
It all started when a friend gave me a course catalog from ed2go in 2009. Creating Web Pages just called to me and I immediately signed up for my first ed2go class. Not being able to hear very well did not matter. I could read the instructions, type questions to the instructor, and receive an answer in a timely manner. I created a webpage for my walking club. It was so much fun that I also signed up for Introduction to CSS3 & HTML5 in 2009 and updated the walking club design!
Then, I took the Intermediate CSS3 & HTML5 in 2010, Introduction to PHP & MySQL in 2010, and Advanced Web Pages in 2011. The instructors were great, especially Alan Simpson, David Karlins, and Robert Fuller. Student questions that were posted to the instructor were answered in detail, which helped the rest of us. If we had a code error and could not find it, no problem! All we had to do was post the code and the instructor or another student would find the error and offer suggestions on the forum. Also, if I did not understand a lesson and posted a question, an answer with more detailed instructions and even examples would be posted back to me. The lessons also included information on how to publish our work to the web!
In some of the classes, other students mentioned Dreamweaver, so I went on the Internet to find out what it was all about. I coveted that program and talked about it a lot. My daughter gave me Dreamweaver CS6 for my 85th birthday. Well, that just meant more classes! Ed2go had just added Introduction to Dreamweaver CS6. First, I signed up for Introduction to Dreamweaver CS6 then Intermediate Dreamweaver CS6 in 2013. Great instructor!
Since my very first course, I have created 3 websites for non-profit organizations and have taken over as Webmaster for another one. All of this was due to ed2go classes with great instructors. I still go back to the printed lessons if I need a refresher. Thanks ed2go for your online learning courses!
