When looking to break into the healthcare industry, one of the most difficult parts of the learning curve is understanding all of the language within the field. In this program, you will not only learn and understand the medical terms themselves, but also their application, making you a valuable asset to a healthcare team.
What sets this program apart from other courses or programs? We’ve partnered with the Stanford Research Institute to integrate new tech into your program. You’ll interact with voice analysis software that will help you practice the pronunciation of terms. What’s more, the software will provide you with a recording and confidence score, to let you know how close or far you are from saying the terms correctly.
The Medical Terminology Online Training Program will teach you to understand not only medical terms themselves, but also their application. You'll start by learning the origins of medical words and how to recognize prefixes and suffixes used in medical terminology. Then you'll learn about the body as a whole and how to differentiate cells, tissues, organs, systems, and cavities. Next, you'll learn to define and describe the function of each system of the human body. This knowledge will help you take the next step in your medical career or education.
Upon registering, you're given six months to complete this program.
This program can be taken from either a Mac or a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems, Firefox, Chrome, or IE 7 and later browsers. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, Microsoft Word (for assignment submissions), and Windows Media Player (which is available as a free download).

Carline Dalgleish has been employed in the medical business office management profession since 1970. She began in the medical records department of the Army/Air Force Hospital in Nuremberg, Germany and has performed accounts receivable and business office management services for physicians, clinics, hospitals, and Medicare.
She has real-time experience in administrative and financial departments, as well as management experience in business office administration, regulatory compliance, and information technology. She is also a subject matter expert in administrative medical assisting and medical billing and coding. In addition, she has created the curriculum for and taught many accounts receivable and accounts payable educational programs, with an emphasis in administrative medical assisting and medical billing and coding.
In the early 1990s, Ms. Dalgleish moved full-time into curriculum development, teaching, and management of business and allied health education programs, with special emphasis on medical business office administration and management.
Ms. Dalgleish holds a bachelor's degree in business information systems and a master's degree in leadership. She is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer and is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM). She owns her own consulting firm, AnnGrant Education Services, Inc., and is currently completing a textbook on the new ICD-10 coding system.
Sharon L. Blackford, MA, BA, RMA has over 30 years’ experience in the medical field. She has a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and has served as a Registered Medical Assistant since 1994.She is originally from Chicago, Illinois and has worked in the United States Army. Sharon joined the US Army when she was 20 years old and was an active duty Clinical Specialist for 10 years. She was trained at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C., and her first duty station was Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a Labor and Delivery nurse. She also worked in Ft. Devens, Massachusetts in a Combat Support Hospital and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii in both the Troop Medical Clinics and Family Practice on the Island of Oahu.
After 10 years active duty she worked as a Hemodialysis Technician at Parkland Hospital in the Outpatient Dialysis Unit. She has worked in Rheumatology, Surgical Oncology, and Family Practice, and has been the Practice Administrator of Neurology, Cardiovascular, and Urology Practices.
She was a Medical Assisting Instructor for various Allied Health Schools in the Metroplex in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. She has been the Director of Education of two proprietary schools Remington College in Shreveport, LA and Ultrasound Diagnostic School in Irving, Texas. She moved to the Gulf Coast to accept a position as the Director of Education of Blue Cliff College was promoted to Campus Director.
1. Can I register for programs if I am an international student?
Yes, because ed2go programs are online you never have to actually travel to the school. Most schools offer telephone or online registration.
2. How long does it take to complete a program?
All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace. Upon registering, you're given six months to complete this program.
3. Do I have to buy additional materials?
All the materials you'll need are included, and their cost will be covered by your tuition. ed2go will ship all materials ground service upon enrollment.
4. Can I get financial assistance?
ed2go courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses.
5. What happens when I complete the program?
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.
6. Am I guaranteed a job?
ed2go programs will provide you with the skills you need to obtain an entry-level position in most cases. We don't provide direct job placement services, but our facilitators and career counselors will help you build your resume and are available to give advice on finding your first job. Facilitators will also be available to use as a professional reference upon completion of the program. Potential students should always do research on the job market in their area before registering.
7. Who will be my instructor?
Each student is paired up with a facilitator for one-on-one interaction. The facilitator will be available (via e-mail) to answer any questions you may have and to provide feedback on your performance. All of our facilitators are successful working professionals in the fields in which they teach.
8. What software or hardware do I need in order to take online programs and what are the system requirements?
In order to take our online programs, you must have access to a computer and the Internet. You can access the program contents from any Web-enabled computer. You don't have to use the same computer to log-in to the program every time. We recommend that you have a word-processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.
9. Can I use a Mac?
Yes, this program is Mac compatible.
