In partnership with Model Teaching, an industry leader in supporting educators, this course will provide you with insights into understanding your elementary students who have experienced trauma, offering examples in the PreK-5th-grade classrooms. Model Teaching's Mission is to improve student performance by directly supporting teachers with quality content and resources. During the Trauma-Informed Teaching for PreK-5th Grade course, you will explore three types of traumas and learn about the four C's (comfort, consistency, compassion, and connection) of trauma-informed pedagogy to help you support your students.
This teacher professional development course was created to help you better understand your elementary students who may have experienced some form of trauma in their life. You will explore examples of students in the PreK-5th-grade classroom, analyze acute, chronic, and complex trauma, identify specific experiences of elementary children that can lead to trauma, and evaluate specific strategies for building a trauma-informed classroom. You will learn about the four C's (comfort, consistency, compassion, and connection) of trauma-informed education so that you have specific strategies in mind to support your students throughout your classroom lessons. The course comes with a downloadable PDF of the content and a four C's resource you can use as a reference guide later in your classroom.
