This course explores the science of reading, its meaning in education, and the importance of research-backed strategies for effective literacy instruction. You will learn key reading components, evaluate your own instruction, and identify areas for improvement in your own teaching.
In partnership with Model Teaching, an industry leader in supporting educators, this science of reading training will provide you with an understanding of the term "science of reading," what it is, what it means in education, and why it is important while teaching reading to use research-backed strategies and activities. You will explore what reading actually is and analyze some of the main components that are commonly referenced when discussing the science of reading.
You will leave the course with a better understanding of how to design a curriculum for meeting the science of reading requirements. You will also be able to identify gaps in your own instruction, if any, that you can improve upon in the future.
