Our Background
The Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC) was founded in 1968 and is regarded as one of the premier career and technical education facilities in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, largely due to the outstanding performance and success of its students. BCTC operates two campuses, each situated on more than 23 picturesque acres in Berks County.

Our Educational Approach
BCTC provides high-quality technical education and career preparation to meet the needs of today’s high school students and adults. The school serves 16 public school districts, numerous nonpublic schools, and the citizens and businesses of the Berks County area. The Career Center is governed by a Joint Operating Committee comprised of school directors from each of the 16 sponsoring school districts. With campuses located in Leesport and Oley, we are conveniently located to serve our students.

Our Programs
Students choose from 36 programs of study across the following career clusters: Communications, Construction, Healthcare, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Services, and Transportation. Each year approximately 3,000 secondary and adult students attend BCTC to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in a competitive workplace and further their education. Many students earn advanced credits through articulation agreements with post-secondary education. The Continuing Education program helps adult students upgrade their skills, earn certifications, participate in apprenticeships, or retool for new careers. Customized programs assist local companies in training their employees in specialized skill areas.
