Mount St. Mary’s University, founded in 1808, is a private, liberal arts, Catholic university with two campuses, one in the Catoctin Mountains near historic Emmitsburg, Maryland, and the other in Frederick, Maryland. The Center of Lifelong Learning is housed within the Division of Continuing Studies at the Mount St. Mary's University Frederick Campus. The university offers more than 80 majors, minors, concentrations and special programs for traditional undergraduate students, more than 20 adult undergraduate and graduate level programs. The Center for Lifelong Learning is the home of non-credit, professional development programs designed to support workforce needs. Founded in 1808, Mount St. Mary’s includes Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, the second oldest in the United States, and the National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, an idyllic shrine for spiritual reflection located on the hill above the university.
