Northern New Mexico College is a two-year and four-year degree granting institution of higher learning. Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, NNMC offers degrees in business administration, teacher education, nursing, radiography, biology, and engineering.
Nearly 65 certificate and degree programs are offered on the Espanola campus including but not limited to: Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Design Foundation, Computer Aided Drafting, Early Childhood Education, Fine Arts, Human Services, Library Technology, Micro Electronics, Management Information Systems, Nursing, Radiography, Science, Substance Abuse Counselor, Welding Technology
Northern's Española campus is located 25 miles north of the state capitol, SantaFe, and 25 miles south of the El Rito Campus. It is situated on a 30 plus acre site, which extends off of U.S. Highway 84/285 to the banks of the Rio Grande river.
Española is the center of commerce for a population (within 10 mile radius) of over 25,000. The community is surrounded by the San Juan, Santa Clara, Pojoaque, and San Ildefonso Pueblos and sits at the base of the Sangre de Cristo and Jemez Mountains.
Northern's Española campus is evolving into a strong technological campus. A new $1.8 million High Tech Manufacturing Training Facility located south of the main campus now provides a home for the Semiconductor Manufacturing / Electronics Department. The facility will also house a robotics lab, a clean room and multipurpose lab, Distance Education classroom space, faculty offices, and classrooms. The facility was named one of the nation's top five "Best Practice" planning projects.
The $2.6 million Johnson Controls Northern New Mexico Business Park, located across from the College's Eagle Memorial Gym off of Railroad Avenue, houses a commercial food kitchen and Northern's new Food Science and Technology Program. More than 20 businesses will be located in the building, as well as Northern's Small Business Development Center.
Computer labs are available for student use in the school's Student Success Center, Vocational Ed Building, Design Foundation Lab, General Education Building, Library, and Administration Building. Students, staff, and faculty have access to the Internet and e-mail. Northern's Library and Ben Lujan Learning Resource Center also house state of the art computers and the school's Interactive Televised Video studio. Classes can be televised between the two campuses via Interactive Televised Video.
Additional resources and facilities on the Espanola campus include: the Nick L. Salazar Center for the Arts, Eagle Memorial Gym, Child Development Center, the Adult Basic Education Center, La Cocina Café, and Northern Bookstore.
Educational counseling services are offered through the school's Student Support Services Department, Educational Opportunity Center, and Student Advisement Center. Student Services also assists with job placement, including undergraduate research opportunities. An American Indians Affairs Office provides help to Native Americans needing educational counseling. Northern's Financial Aid Office helps students find ways to pay for college through Federal help and local scholarships.
Northern's Continuing Education Department offers a spectrum of non-credit course work, ranging from Intro to Computers to Tin Smithing.
A wide range of intramural sports are held in Eagle Memorial Gym, outdoor tennis courts are available for student and community use, and Student Senate sponsors events for staff, faculty, and students during Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. Student Senate also holds a yearly awards ceremony recognizing top student achievers.
Other events hosted by the College include: National Youth Sports Program (a summer program for youth ages 10-16), Foundation Endowment Scholarship Dinner and Dance, Small Business Development Center Workshops, Student Arts Recital, Fall Arts Festival, and community events and meetings throughout the year.
