This program will help you develop the skills and knowledge to develop complex websites for both internet content and web applications. The course will teach you the new HTML5 standards involved in creating web pages and CSS3 standards to guide your layout and style decisions on web pages. This program will walk you through using HTML5 elements, including creating web forms, inserting images and video clips, and applying special effects to objects on web pages. It provides you with hands-on experience in creating web pages by training you on how to work through all components of a website project, from design to coding.

The course also covers the basics of JavaScript programming, which allows you to create dynamic web pages with content that can alter and respond with interaction of site visitors. The course covers all of the skills you’ll need to be successful in the web development environment. This program is entirely online and is completed at your own pace. When you register, you receive six (6) months to complete this program.

Richard Blum has over 25 years of experience in the computer industry as both a programmer and systems administrator. He has worked on large-scale applications used by thousands of customers, as well as small websites used for personal content. He has supported servers in the Windows, Linux, and Unix environments used for database, Web, and network applications for a large corporation. He is currently the instructor for several online web development courses, including courses on website design, PHP, Ruby on Rails, and Ajax technology.

Randy Rolen

Randy Rolen has been designing and coding websites from the ground up since 1993. He has created over 50 websites, many which comprised more than 240 total webpages, including bulletin board systems and shopping cart online ordering. He has been teaching online courses since 2002. His professional skills include HTML, XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Prerequisites / Requirements

There are no prerequisites for this program.

This program can be taken from either a Mac or a PC. It is compatible with the Windows XP and later operating systems, Internet Explorer 8 or later, Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. There are no specific computer requirements other than an Internet connection, e-mail account, and Microsoft Word for assignment submissions. We recommend that you use the latest version of Internet Explorer in place of other Web browsers. Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader are required for this program.

Can I get financial assistance?

ed2go courses are non-credit courses, so they do not qualify for federal aid. In some states, vocational rehab or workforce development boards will pay for qualified students to take our courses. Additionally, some students may qualify for financial assistance when they enroll, if they meet certain requirements.

What happens when I complete the program?
Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a certificate of completion.
Am I guaranteed a job?

The time allotted to complete your program has been calculated based on the number of course hours. If after a concerted effort, you are still unable to complete your program on time, your Student Advisor will help you work out a suitable completion date. Please note that a fee may be charged for an extension.
