Learn the fundamentals of diagnostic coding and what is required to be successful at the practice. Understand the structure, conventions, and guidelines of coding for ICD-10-CM.
Master the various codes and understanding of diseases, disorders, and cancers of endocrine, nutritional, metabolic, skin, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, and the upper body systems.
Understand the codes associated with conditions existing in pregnancy, childbirth, and newborns. You'll also learn proper conventions for coding for symptoms and signs of injury, poisoning, and impairment.
Understand the fundamentals of procedural coding with ICD-10-PCS. Learn the conventions, guidelines, and structure of the system.
Master the definitions of root operations. Move on to understand the medical and surgical section, including character definitions.
Learn coding best practices for obstetrics, measuring, monitoring, specialty procedures, radiology, x-rays, and mental health.
Carline Dalgleish has worked in medical office administration for over 30 years. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems, a master's degree in Leadership, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Health Information Management. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator and an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. Dalgleish is the author of an ICD-10 coding system and also owns her own consulting firm, AnnGrant Educational Services.
In order to take this course, you should have some knowledge of medical terminology. Education in anatomy and physiology is strongly recommended, but not required.
This course is for anyone in the healthcare industry who wants to master medical coding in general, and/ or ICD-10 medical coding specific. Coding experience is not required.
