Then, take a closer look at the challenges of being a part-time or accidental project manager, and discuss strategies you can use to ensure your success.

Week 2

In this lesson, you'll learn how to define the three essential components of a project's scope: boundaries, requirements, and deliverables. Then, get strategies and tools for identifying your key stakeholders, documenting your project's activities, and putting together a schedule to complete those activities.

Week 3

In this lesson, we'll walk through the risk identification process, and you'll learn techniques for listing project risks and documenting them in a risk registry. You’ll also learn how to assess risks and cover risk mitigation techniques, including ways to reduce both the probability and impact of a risk. Then, you'll learn how to create a communication plan by figuring out the whowhat, and how of your project communications.

Week 4

In this lesson, you'll learn how setting goals and prioritizing help you maximize your effectiveness. You’ll also explore how organizing and delegating can help you accomplish your objectives most efficiently. Then, you'll learn how to manage the work of the project from the kick-off meeting all the way through to completion.

Week 5

In this lesson, you'll learn about common project controls and how to use them to identify variances between your project plan and current project performance. We'll discuss the warning signs that might indicate your project is out of alignment, and we'll talk about the steps you can take to recover the project and get back on plan. Then, learn how to measure and quantify project completeness. We'll talk about ways to verify that a project is done, practical aspects of closing the project, and customer acceptance.

Week 6

In this lesson, you'll find out how to create a transition plan and ensure that your project deliverables can be used or implemented by their final owner with minimal disruption. Finally, you'll find out how to identify and document the important lessons you've learned throughout your project so that they can benefit you, your team, and your company in the future.
