Rox Ann Sparks
Rox Ann Sparks, DNP, MSN, RN, CNE, CMHIMP, LNC, is an experienced nurse who has cared for patients and students in nearly every healthcare setting, with 35 years of practice in emergency medicine. Her nursing career has led her from obtaining her CNA, LVN, RN, and MSN to a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP).
Dr. Sparks has experience in being a floor nurse to a chair of nursing. She has developed many different healthcare programs, from PCT to BSN. She has also consulted in accreditation for nursing programs and presented numerous educational programs from natural health to chronic diseases. These experiences led her to become a Certified Nurse Educator.
Dr. Sparks is currently the CEO of Sparks Nursing Consulting, which helps patients become healthier by coaching them to better health. She works with multiple law firms on the defense of nursing standards. She also developed an RN NCLEX review book and app to use the questions and multiple online courses for nurses and healthcare support staff.
Dr. Barry Martin
Dr. Barry Martin has been working in the medical lab for the past 15 years as a certified medical laboratory scientist. Dr. Martin received his doctorate degree from Liberty University, his master's degree from NC A&T State University, and undergraduate degrees from Winston-Salem State University, UNCG, & Lenoir-Rhyne College. Dr. Martin has a vast amount of experience working in the lab and enjoys sharing his knowledge with others.
Dr. Georgia McCauley
Dr. Georgia McCauley has over 25 years of experience as a phlebotomy and medical laboratory science educator and over 40 years as a certified medical laboratory scientist. She earned her Ph.D. from Northcentral University, Prescott, Arizona, an MBA and BS from Franklin University, Columbus, Ohio, and an AAS from Columbus State Community College.
Currently, Dr. McCauley is a professor in the Clinical Laboratory Science Department at Winston-Salem State University, Winston-Salem, NC, where she serves as Chair and Program Director.
Barrie M. Lange-Schneithorst
Barrie M. Lange-Schneithorst, MBA, BSHA, CHCO, CBCS, is a Director of Clinic and Administration Operations and Compliance. She began working in the healthcare industry in 1987 as a medical underwriter with BCBS and has managed and overseen the operations of numerous medical, surgical, and urgent care clinics.
Ms. Lange-Schneithorst has taught and assisted with curriculum development in allied health services for over ten years, specializing in phlebotomy, anatomy and physiology, healthcare administration, billing and coding, electronic medical records (EMRs), healthcare statistics and analytics, HIPAA compliance, medical insurance, medical terminology, and medical law and ethics. She attended and completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees, graduating cum laude, at the Ohio State University and Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

Requirements
Prerequisites:
To participate in the competency activities and receive feedback from your instructor, you will need to have access to a video camera (on the phone or other device of familiarity) and be able to upload the video as an .mp4 file to the assignment pages for review. These activities are required in order to successfully pass the course.
Certification Requirements:
To sit for the NHA CPT certification exam, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. It is recommended you have this before enrolling in this program. In addition, for NHA certification, you must successfully complete the required number of venipunctures and dermal punctures. Certification exams offered by NHA are only available online to candidates located in the US.
This course does not meet state requirements for students intending to work in California. Ensure that the Certified Phlebotomy Technician course meets your state's requirements.
